Since 1998, attorney Todd Higey has represented Birmingham families and businesses with diligence, dedication and devotion to detail.

Before founding Higey Law LLC, Todd served as the first general counsel for a Birmingham-based consumer reporting agency, continuing his role as head legal counsel for the purchaser and its four affiliates. As general counsel, he served on the executive team providing direct counsel to the chief executive officers on matters of sensitivity and risk. During his tenure, he negotiated hundreds of commercial contracts, managed intellectual property (IP) portfolios, oversaw compliance with federal and state privacy laws, and merged four affiliates into one entity.

Todd was also a partner at Adams and Reese LLP, a full-service business law firm with a regional footprint in the Southeast. During that time, he represented businesses ranging from Fortune 500 companies to local, closely held outfits, litigating various cases, including commercial contract disputes, personal injury defense, equal employment opportunity (EEO) and workers’ compensation concerns, real property litigation, product liability issues and domestic matters. Beyond this, he advised businesses on contract formation, human resources policies and general risk management.

  • Victories obtained on appeal: Henderson v. MeadWestvaco Corp., 23 So. 3d 625 (Ala. 2009); Folmar v. Empire Fire & Marine Ins. Co., 856 So. 2d 807 (Ala. 2003); Greene v. CSXT, 843 So. 2d 157 (Ala. 2002); and Campbell v. CSXT, 892 So. 2d 923 (Ala. Civ. App. 2004)

Todd was also a founding shareholder of a boutique firm, where he worked as a trial lawyer representing businesses and employers throughout Alabama. His practice concentrated on labor and employment law, discrimination litigation and advising employers on best practices.
